Varieties of hosting services

A hosting service includes stashing and/or sharing certain web content on a web server handled by a website hosting company. There are various types of hosting services used for different goals, so let's take a look at them. Doing so, you can decide what you need, depending on whether you wish to run a site, email addresses, or to share files with chums and associates.

- File hosting: a service made available by various web hosts, which allows you to share huge files. These could be disk images, films, audio files, archived documents, etc. This service is also known as file storage, and its single function is to share files, since it does not offer web site uploading. The moment the files are uploaded, you will either get an accidentally created download link for each of them, or you will be able to survey a roster of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to load .html or .php website files in your web browser. Free-of-cost file storage plans frequently include advertisements by the download links, while a timer obliges you to await a particular amount of time to observe them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you run a paid file storage plan, there are no limits as to how many files you can upload/download straight away, and also there is no limit as far as the download speed and the file size are concerned.

At present, with the assistance of the cPanel hosting suppliers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more stylish "cloud hosting". This is a totally inaccurate interpretation of the literal denotation of "cloud hosting". A real cloud website hosting system would apportion the load between autonomous groups of web hosting servers in a cluster, which are committed to attending miscellaneous hosting services (electronic mail, web space, statistics, DNS, databases, website hosting CP, and so on.) So, the file hosting service is simply a type of a data storage hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even near.

- Image hosting: comparable with file hosting; certain companies offer a hosting solution for pictures only. This hosting variant is good if you would like to share a large quantity of pics with pals or partners since the solution is generally free of charge. You will obtain a random link for each and every pic or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file hosting service, .html and .php files are not supported, so the solution cannot be utilized for web sites.

- E-mail hosting: a solution committed to taking care of your email accounts. Some vendors provide web page hosting solutions for web sites, but do not offer an email hosting service. If you want to own a mail address with your domain name but do not want to keep a web site, then the email hosting solution is what you need. You can set up email mailbox accounts and manage them, but there will be no hosting solution for the domains. The email hosting solution includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP email servers.

- Video hosting: this service permits you to upload and share videos. You can either share a link to a given video clip, or you can embed the video clip in your web page that is hosted somewhere else. The advantage of utilizing this method instead of uploading the video in a hosting account is that the video clip creates a specific amount of CPU load, so with several videos and a few hundred site visitors, you may have a hard time with your web page hosting quotas. Embedding the video clip will enable you to administer as many video clips as you would like without hassling about system resources.

- Web hosting: this is the service that you need if you wish to have a website. To some extent, it comprises all of the abovementioned hosting groups since, along with your sites, you can also host images and files, you can run databases and email address accounts, upload video files, etc. At Zzyb Design, for instance, you can take a glimpse at web hosting and dedicated hosting packages that permit you to have all of the abovementioned services in one location. There may be limits based on the type of hosting service that you've opted for - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your website hosting package may be better or worse juxtaposed to the routine email/file/video/image hosting packages that are tailored for specific content exclusively.
